Non woven fabrics have been incorporated into the world of bags since like what, a few years back? And now it's become so widely used and we are seeing people carrying a recycle bag like, everywhere. And why is that?

It is cheap. It is made of inexpensive non woven fabrics which are derived from separate fibers or from molten plastic or plastic film. What's unusual is that fabrics like this one are not knitted or weaved, and hence they appear with a flat surface. 

It is reusable. Non woven fabrics may be perishable, i.e. have a lifespan like 2 - 3 years depending on its thickness, quality, chemicals used, etc. but they are not easily breakable, at least not like paper bags! 

It is environmentally friendly. Yes! It is, totally. This is why non woven bags have been widely accepted by many counterparts, because of its user-friendliness. It does not pollute the already-quite-polluted environment and owning a non woven bag reduces the use of plastic bags.
